The street "Rue des Échasses" (Stilts Street), where our apartment is located, owes its name to the Échasse Corporation (Zunft zur Steltz), a powerful "tribe" of goldsmiths, bookbinders, and card makers from the 16th century. These members had the rare privilege of carrying swords to defend the city! Between 1350 and 1450, eight "ammeisters" (equivalent to mayors) came from this corporation. The bilingual street signs indicate "Stelzegass" in Alsatian.

Is the apartment suitable for families?

The apartment is not suitable for families with young children. The stairs and ladder to the mezzanine are not secured for children, which could pose safety risks. We recommend this accommodation for adults and families with older children who can safely navigate these features.

How can I park nearby?

As Strasbourg's historic center is mainly pedestrian, we recommend the nearby public parking lots: Gutenberg Parking, Broglie Parking, or Austerlitz Parking. You can also park at the park-and-ride facilities at tram stations on the outskirts and easily reach the apartment by public transport.

What public transportation is available nearby?

The Broglie tram stop (lines B, E, and F) is the closest, less than 500 meters away. Strasbourg's public transport network is excellent and will allow you to easily move around the entire city.

Are there shops in the immediate vicinity?

Yes, you will find many shops within a few minutes' walk: bakeries, grocery stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, and various boutiques. The market at Place Broglie is also an excellent place to stock up on fresh produce.

What are some local recommendations?

We recommend a sunset stroll along the canals of Petite France, tasting Alsatian wine in a traditional winstub, and of course, climbing to the Cathedral platform for a breathtaking view of the city. In December, don't miss the famous Christmas market, one of the oldest in Europe!
