Although it cannot be stated with absolute certainty, this building (as well as No. 15) appears to have been built before 1870, thus before Strasbourg was annexed to the German Empire. It is freely inspired by classical style with its regular openings, recesses, and superimposed Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders in the center. The railings, likely made of cast iron instead of the wrought iron used in the 18th century, and the modillion cornice are typical of the 19th century, while the elaborately crafted hipped lintels are reminiscent of the Second Empire.

Quai Kleber has had several names throughout history: built in 1845 as "quai de l'Esprit", it became "quai de Paris" in 1852, then "quai de la Station" in 1858. After Alsace-Lorraine was annexed in 1872, it was renamed "Bahnhofstaden" and later "Kleberstaden" in 1880. In 1918, its name was Frenchified to "quai Kléber" before becoming "Moscheroschstaden" during the German occupation in 1940, named after statesman Johann Michael Moscherosch, and finally returning to "quai Kléber" after the Liberation.

The nearest tram stop is "Porte de l'Hôpital", served by lines A and D. These lines make it easy to reach the central station, the European Parliament, and the city's main attractions. The bus network is also well-developed in the area.

The neighborhood has many local shops. You'll find a bakery and a grocery store less than a 3-minute walk away, as well as a supermarket about 5 minutes away. The covered market at Place Broglie is also accessible within a few minutes.

Can the apartment be noisy?

As the apartment is located on the ground floor facing the street, you may hear passing cars and pedestrians, particularly during the day. However, the street is not a main thoroughfare and the neighborhood becomes quiet in the evening. We provide earplugs for light sleepers.
